Today provides us with another opportunity to present the Command’s performance for the first half of the 2026 fiscal year, while reaffirming our commitment to revenue generation, trade facilitation, stakeholder engagement, and national economic development.Distinguished ladies and gentlemen,

Since its establishment four years ago, the Lagos Free Trade Zones Command has become a model of trade facilitation within the Service. Its commitment to efficient trade processes and operational excellence has enhanced the ease of doing business while positioning the Command as one of the country’s major revenue-generating commands.

This remarkable transformation is a reflection of the visionary leadership of the Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, the strategic direction of the Management Team, the dedication of our officers and the unwavering cooperation of our stakeholders.

I am pleased to announce that the Command recorded its highest monthly revenue collection since inception in the month of June 2026, generating a total of ₦ 87,102,845,714.51 (Eighty-Seven Billion, One Hundred and Two Million, Eight Hundred and Forty-Five Thousand, Seven hundred and Fourteen Naira, Fifty-One Kobo). This historic achievement demonstrates the Command’s growing capacity and the increasing confidence of investors and stakeholders operating within the Free Trade Zones under our jurisdiction and Lekki Deepsea Port. Furthermore, between January and June 2026, the Command generated a total revenue of ₦ 408,869,138,497.75 (Four Hundred and Eight Billion, Eight Hundred and Sixty-nine Million, One Hundred and Thirty-Eight Thousand, Four Hundred and Nine-Seven Naira, Seventy-Five Kobo).5. This represents an increase of ₦91,546,402,785.69k over the ₦317,322,735,712.06k collected during the corresponding period in 2025, amounting to an impressive 28.85% increase in revenue performance.

This unprecedented growth is not accidental. It is the product of deliberate strategies aimed at strengthening compliance, improving operational efficiency and fostering constructive engagement with all stakeholders operating within the Free Trade Zones and Lekki Port.

Our sustained stakeholder engagement programmes have continued to build mutual trust and encourage voluntary compliance with extant customs laws and regulations. Through continuous dialogue, education and collaboration, we have created an environment where legitimate trade can flourish while ensuring that government revenue is adequately protected, Equally important has been the professionalism, integrity, and unwavering commitment demonstrated by the officers and men of this Command. Their diligence, discipline, and dedication to duty have contributed significantly to these outstanding achievements and have strengthened the confidence of the trading community in the operations of the Nigeria Customs Service.

As we celebrate these milestones, I wish to express my profound appreciation to the Comptroller-General of Customs for his visionary leadership and the confidence reposed in this Command. I also extend my sincere gratitude to the distinguished members of the Management Team for providing the strategic guidance that has enabled Commands across the Service to excel.

My appreciation also goes to every officer and personnel of the Lagos Free Trade Zone Command, as well as officers from other Customs formations and units whose collaboration has enhanced our operational effectiveness. Your commitment and professionalism remain the bedrock of these remarkable achievements.

I equally acknowledge the invaluable support and cooperation of all sister security and regulatory agencies operating within the Port and the Free Zones. The synergy among our various agencies has continued to enhance security and facilitate legitimate trade in line with the Federal Government’s economic objectives.

To our esteemed stakeholders, investors, licensed customs agents, importers, exporters and members of the business community, I sincerely thank you for your cooperation and growing level of compliance.
