The Chief Personnel Management (CPM) (Army), Major General Adewale Adekeye, has charged candidates participating in the 2026 Master Warrant Officer to Army Warrant Officer promotion exercise, to exhibit the highest form of discipline and professionalism. He gave the charge, Tuesday 5 October, 2026, at the Cultural Center in Abeokuta, Ogun State, at the inauguration of the Master Warrant Officers to Army Warrant Officers promotion board exercise.
Speaking, Major General Adekeye, said the exercise was designed to identify most qualified personnel for promotion to the rank of Army Warrant Officers. He described the Army Warrant Officer rank as the pinnacle of career progression for enlisted personnel, noting that only the best candidates would attain the rank.
The CPM said the board, constituted to assess over 500 candidates will select only those considered most suitable to serve the Nigerian Army at the next level. He therefore admonished the candidates to remain professional and disciplined throughout the exercise, while urging board members to conduct the assessment with fairness, firmness, professionalism and impartiality. “My charge to is to be professional and disciplined on the part of the candidates; and on the part of the board members; to be fair, firm, professional and dispassionate. Do not favour anybody, but grant everybody equal level playing ground so that the best can emerge”.
He added that during the exercise, candidates will undergo comprehensive medical examination to ascertain mental and physical fitness to qualify them for the exercise. The CPM acknowledged the resilience, dedication, and loyal service of the candidates to the the nation at large and the Nigerian Army in particular.
He thanked the Chief of Army Staff Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu NAM for approval to host the Master Warrant Officers to Army Warrant Officers promotion board exercise.
Earlier, the General Officer Commanding (GOC), 81 Division, Nigerian Army, Major General Adebayo Babalola, welcomed the candidates and expressed the Division’s readiness to host the promotion board. He added that the Division had gone to extra lengths to ensure the comfort of the candidates and expressed appreciation to the Chief of Army Staff Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu for guidance to ensure a hitch free exercise. He urged the candidates to put in their best and assured of the determination of the Division to host a memorable exercise.
The exercise, hosted by 81 Division, Nigerian Army, is taking place at 35 Artillery Brigade, Alamala Barracks, Abeokuta, and is scheduled to run from 5-18 October 2026.
