Lagos police nab man wanted over alleged cyber attacks on clerics

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a man, identified as Saheed Teyinbo, also known as “Alfasuna”, over alleged continuous cyberbullying and disparaging remarks against religious clerics.

It was gathered that the suspect, resident of Alakuko, Lagos, was tracked down by operatives of Lagos State Command over petitions against him by some clerics.

Following the report, the State Commissioner of Police, Fatai Tijani, directed the State Criminal Investigation Department, Panti Yaba, to conduct a thorough investigation into the matter.

According to a police source, his arrest followed a petition by Prophet Israel Oladele, also known as “Prophet Genesis”, a Celestial Church pastor, who accused the suspect of making disparaging remarks against him and his religious beliefs.

The source said that another petition was also submitted against the suspect by Alhaji Sheikh Dr. Hammed Olanrewaju Alfulanny, a popular Islamic scholar.

The source said Alfulanny, of Yaya Abatan Road, Ogba, Lagos, similarly accused the suspect of allegedly making odious remarks against his person and his religious beliefs.

“The suspect was allegedly on the wanted list of the police in Kwara State, where a warrant of arrest had been issued against him.

“The warrant was allegedly connected to cases of cyberbullying involving several other religious clerics, ” he said.

According to the source, the suspect was interrogated by the police and allegedly confessed to the offences.

The source said the suspect had subsequently been profiled while the command awaited more victims who might come forward with complaints relating to alleged cyber assaults by the suspect.

It is believed that the additional complaints would assist the police in completing their investigation and ensuring that the suspect was taken to court as soon as possible.

The police source assured that the investigation would be conducted professionally, adding that all relevant parties would be given the opportunity to present their evidence before the matter is brought before a court.
