NCJTFLCA Suspends Dr. Basil Nwolisa Over Alleged Corruption, Abuse of Power and Misconduct

Following several cases of misconduct, abuse of office, corruption and misrepresentation pending against the embattled Interim National President of National Compliance Joint Taskforce of Licensed Clearing Agents, Dr. Basil Nwolisa he has been suspended indefinitely from his position as National President.

It would be recalled that Dr. Basil Nwolisa was inaugurated as the President of the NCJTFLCA on April 2, 2025 with the aims and objectives of curbing corruption, ensuring transparency and accountability within the maritime and logistics sector.

It was alleged that Dr. Basil Nwolisa has used his position to mislead some people to buy non-existent auction containers from Nigeria Customs Service which landed him in court and subsequent detention at Ikoyi Prison early this year.

Specifically the National Compliance Joint Task Force of Licensed Clearing Agents accused Dr. Nwaolisa of abuse of office and diversion of funds donated to the organization into a private account tagged: Fidelity Bank, 4020534715, Dr. Basil Nwaolisa and present another account, Peacetoks Books Ent. 80255838, Moniepoint. He was also accused of fraudulently withdrawing from the organization’s account the sum of #1,000,000 claiming that the money was a personal gift to him by a friend.

In a move to curb his abuse of Office and corrupt tendencies the Board of Trustees of the National Compliance Joint Taskforce of Licensed Clearing Agents issued him a query to explain his actions, but rather than addressing the allegations against him, to defend himself he launched aggressive attack on the BoT members. As a result of his recalcitrant character the BoT suspended him as National President and released a public notice to disown his publication accusing officers and men of the Nigeria Customs Service of lateness to work. This was subsequently followed by a letter of formal suspension dated 19th May, 2026 requesting Dr. Nwolisa to relinquish all NCJTFLCA belongings in his custody.

In view of the above developments coupled with a number of other matters pending against the embattled President Dr. Basil Nwolisa before the police and court, the NCJTFLCA hereby notifies the general public that Dr. Nwolisa remains on suspension as the National President of NCJTFLCA until he clears himself of all cases against him. This notice took effect from Tuesday 19th May, 2026.
