Inter-Agency collaboration: Delta State Commissioner Of Police pays strategic courtesy visits to DSS, immigration and correctional service; reaffirms intelligence-led policing and inter-agency synergy

The Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, CP Yemi Oyeniyi undertook a series of strategic courtesy visits to key security and law enforcement agencies in the state as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen inter-agency collaboration and enhance coordinated response to security challenges.

On Monday, 20 April 2026, the CP, accompanied by the management team, paid a courtesy visit to the Director, Department of State Services (DSS), Delta State Command. Subsequently, on Wednesday, 22 April 2026, the Commissioner of Police extended similar courtesy visits to the Nigeria Immigration Service and the Nigeria Correctional Service in Delta State.

During the engagements, the CP underscored the primacy of intelligence in modern policing, noting that effective security management is anchored on timely and actionable intelligence. He emphasised that inter-agency partnership remains indispensable and cannot be taken for granted, while commending the existing synergy between the Nigeria Police Force and the sister agencies in maintaining public safety across the State.

The CP highlighted critical security concerns, including cultism, kidnapping, communal clashes, human trafficking and drug trafficking, stressing the need for sustained collaboration among security agencies, particularly in the build-up to forthcoming elections. He further noted that he would continue to rely on the experience and institutional knowledge of officers and sister agencies who have served in the State, assuring of his commitment to strengthening cooperation and advancing intelligence-driven operations.

In response, the Director of the DSS in Delta State reaffirmed that collaboration remains central to effective security management, noting that intelligence gathering is a collective responsibility that cannot be undertaken in isolation.

At the Nigeria Immigration Service, the CP was received by the State Comptroller, G.C. Ozodinobi, while at the Nigeria Correctional Service, he was received by the State Controller, CC Chuke Chike Idoko.

In their respective remarks, the Comptroller of Immigration, G.C. Ozodinobi, psc, and the Controller of the Nigeria Correctional Service, CC Chuke Chike Idoko, commended the Commissioner of Police for the initiative and reaffirmed their commitment to sustained collaboration. They noted that no single agency can independently address contemporary security challenges, stressing that collective efforts remain the most effective pathway to ensuring public safety.

The visit reinforces the shared resolve of security agencies in Delta State to deepen cooperation, strengthen intelligence sharing, and work collaboratively towards maintaining peace, law and order, and the overall security of all residents.
