
The Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, CP Yemi Oyeniyi on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, paid a courtesy visit to the Honourable Chief Judge of Delta State, Hon. Justice Theresa Obiajulu Ogochukwu Diai, as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen collaboration between the Police and the Judiciary in the administration of justice and maintenance of law and order across the State.
During the visit, the Commissioner of Police emphasised the importance of synergy between the Police and the Judiciary, noting that both institutions play critical and complementary roles in the criminal justice system. He stated that the Police fully understand and appreciate the vital role of the Judiciary in upholding justice, fairness, and the rule of law.
CP Yemi Oyeniyi acknowledged that while the Police may occasionally have operational shortcomings, such issues should not create unnecessary friction between both institutions, as criminals would only benefit when the Police and the Judiciary are divided over technicalities. He appealed for continued understanding, cooperation, and mutual support in the collective fight against crime and criminality in the State.

He appreciated the cooperation and cordial relationship existing between the Delta State Command and the Judiciary, stressing that the shared objective remains the reduction of crime to the barest minimum and the sustenance of peace and public safety across Delta State.
In her remarks, the Chief Judge of Delta State, Hon. Justice Theresa Obiajulu Ogochukwu Diai appreciated the Commissioner of Police for the visit and she expressed optimism that the presence and approach of the CP would further strengthen the relationship between the Police and the Judiciary and also improve the administration of justice in the State.
The visit featured discussions on matters relating to security, prosecution, judicial processes, and continued institutional collaboration towards a safer Delta State.
