COAS pays maiden operational visit to headquarters 4 brigade, commend troops professional conduct in Edo State

The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, on Friday 6 November 2026 paid maiden operational visit to Headquarters 4 Brigade Nigerian Army and as well commended the troops for their professional conducts in Edo State.

The COAS gave the commendation while addressing troops at the Brigade Headquarters during his maiden operational visit to the Brigade. He assured the troops that arrangements would be made to renovate soldiers’ accommodation to ensure decent and conducive living conditions. He also pledged the provision of a new bus to address transportation challenges within the Brigade.

The COAS further reiterated the Nigerian Army’s commitment to ensuring access to functional medical facilities for personnel and their families, including their children. He emphasised that the welfare of troops remains a critical component of operational effectiveness and a key priority under his Soldiers First Culture. The COAS urged the troops to reciprocate the gesture through discipline, professionalism, loyalty, and unwavering commitment to duty.

He charged them to operate strictly within the provisions of the law, respect the rights of civilians, protect innocent persons, and deal decisively with criminal elements within their Area of Responsibility.

Lieutenant General Shaibu commended the troops of 4 Brigade for their discipline, professionalism, and operational effectiveness, which, he noted, had contributed significantly to restoring public confidence in the Nigerian Army. He also lauded the Commander 4 Brigade for his leadership efforts and effective collaboration with sister security agencies and other relevant stakeholders, in line with the Strategic Cooperation Pilar of his Command Philosophy.

Earlier, the Commander 4 Brigade Nigerian Army, Brigadier General Ahmed Balogun, welcomed the COAS to Headquarters 4 Brigade and briefed him on the security situation within the Brigade’s Area of Responsibility, as well as administrative and logistical issues affecting the Brigade.
The Brigade Commander expressed profound appreciation to the COAS for the visit and assurances of improved welfare, while pledging the continued commitment of officers and soldiers of the Brigade to sustaining operational gains and consolidating existing security achievements.
