In a proactive response to the barage of campaign of calumny being sponsored by criminal elements in a case bordering on murder of Mr. Sheriff Ishola Salami (killed on April 18, 2023) and Prince Kazeem Ademola Akinloye (the first son of the Ojomu of Ajiranland, killed on August 26, 2024) in Ajiran Community, Eti Osa Local Government Area, Lagos State, we as concerned civil rights activists that have been at the forefront of calling for investigation and prosecution of suspects traced to the gruesome murder, paid a solidarity visit to the senior police officer that cracked down the alleged criminals within his short stay as Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, AIG Olohundare Jimoh in charge of Zone 2, Ogun and Lagos States Zonal Command.
While findings reveal that in an attempt to twist the arm of the law and pitch the public against the Nigeria Police and the former Commissioner of Police, AIG Olohundare Jimoh. It is pertinent to note that AIG Jimoh assumed office as Compol, Lagos State Command on 18 February 2025.
The office of the Commissioner of Police received a petition from Olarotimi Williams Chambers, requesting for an investigation and prosecution on the murder of 2 persons in Ajiran Community, Eti Osa Local Government Area, Lagos. The state command led by the then CP Olohundare Jimoh approved and directed that an investigation is carried out on the allegation.
The investigation led to the arrest of 2 suspects who made confessional statements on how they murdered their victims. They equally revealed who their sponsor was. It was their statements that led to the declaration of Lagos businessman, Hammed Tajudeen Akanbi (also known as Ahmed Ajiran or Hamed Tajudeen) as the primary sponsor and orchestrator of the killings in the Ajiran community wanted by the police.
Having seen that the police was not willing to compromise justice on the case, the mastermind of the crime, resorted to lobbying powerful persons and even the relations of the then Commissioner of Police to drop the prosecution of the case. Police eventually got Hammed Tajudeen Akanbi arrested in Benin Republic.
The case is in court and it will be extra judicial to make comment on it. However, every available reports at our disposal indicated that justice is being pursued and that shall be achieved.
AIG Olohundare Jimoh is one of the pillars of support of Nigeria Police that some us believe that he remains a perfect example of selfless service to humanity.
We hereby urge the public to discountenance and disregard merchants of falsehood recruited by blood letting criminals in the society through deployment of access to social media and societal decadance of olodo uprising.
