The burial arrangements for the immediate past Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja, has been announced by the Nigerian Army.
The deceased was announced dead last week Wednesday by Nigerian Government.
This was disclosed on Tuesday night by the Nigerian Army in a special circular issued via its verified social media accounts, stating that Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja’s burial would take place at the National Military Cemetery in Abuja on Friday, November 15, 2024, when the final interment will hold between 2 pm and 6 pm same day.
Funeral service will be held between 10am and 12.45pm at the National Christian Centre Abuja on November 14, 2024.
The Service of Songs will be held between 5 pm and 7 pm on Thursday, November 14, 2024 at the Army Headquarters, Garrison Parade Ground, Mogadishu Cantonment, Lagos State.
The deceased died on November 5, 2024, at age 56 following a protracted illness after which the presidency confirmed his death on Wednesday, November 6, 2024.
Bayo Onanuga, the presidential spokesman in a statement said: “Announcement of the Passing of Chief of Army Staff, Lt. General Taoreed Abiodun Lagbaja. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, regrets to announce the passing of Lt. General Taoreed Abiodun Lagbaja, Chief of the Army Staff, at age 56.
“He passed away on Tuesday night in Lagos after a period of illness. Born on February 28, 1968, Lt. General Lagbaja was appointed Chief of Army Staff on June 19, 2023, by President Tinubu.”
