Imo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has won chairmanship in 27 local government inclusive of the councillorship seats rounding up to 305 in the recently concluded election.

Charles Ejiogu, who is the chairman of the Imo State Independent Electoral Commission (ISIEC), made it officially known to the newsmen at the Commission’s Secretariat in Owerri.

He said, “All the candidates of APC have been officially declared winners as Councilors and Executive Council Chairmen-elects.

“The elections took place across 305 electoral wards and 27 local government areas (LGAs) in Imo State.”

Imo State chapter of National Youth Alliance (NYA), a group under the aegis reacting to the announced results said the State LGA election was a slap on the country’s democracy, alleging that ISIEC collaborated with APC to cut exercise and deprived the electorate from exercising their authority.

Chinonso Uba, the State coordinator, had in a press statement alleged that ISIEC distributed electoral materials to polling unit selectively and their staffs never showed up in some of the council areas which deprived so many people from voting but results emanated from those places.

He said, “Voting materials such as ballot boxes, result sheets arrived as late as 3pm. In most areas, ISIEC never showed up and many voters were disenfranchised.”
