The Technical Director of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Augustine Eguavoen, has made it known that Finidi George, the Super Eagles head coach, is going to work with the local players.
The neglect of the home-based players in the national team in the past has been persistently complained.
Eguavoen, who now took it over and promised that the home-based players will get equal opportunity with their foreign-based colleagues under the new technical crew.
He said at the unveiling ceremony of the new Super Eagles coach that, “There is a percentage of players from the domestic league who will always be part of the Super Eagles.”
Four local players will reportedly be named in the Super Eagles squad for the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against South Africa and the Benin Republic.
