Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Professor Mahmood Yakubu, on Tuesday swore in nine new resident electoral commissioners, saying there would be no reason for defeat.
Noting that some of the RECs had been professional members of the commission before their current appointments, Yakubu said they could not have a learning curve, urging them to take advantage of their rich experience with status as a former INEC member.
According to Yakubu, although elections are a multiparty exercise, they are also a very sensitive issue, especially in an environment where some desperate political actors and their supporters want to win by either way, if they fail, they blame the Committee or even find a way to win, delegitimize processes and defame public officials.
