UEFA to decide on Man City, Man Utd, ban from the Europa League, UCL

By Busari Kabirat

According to the UK Times reports, the UEFA will permit both Manchester City and Manchester United to play in the same European competitions as other clubs this season but with certain terms and conditions.

The rulling is expected to be issued on Monday by the UEFA’s Club Financial Control Board (CFCB).

In accordance with the present rules which states that teams which shares ownership cannot play in the same competition as other club.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe owns Ligue 1 side Nice, who qualified for the Europa League this season, as did Manchester United, who he also has a minority stake in.

Girona, part of the City Football Group, finished third in LaLiga this season, qualifying for the Champions League, alongside Manchester City.

But UEFA will give approval to both Manchester teams to play alongside their sister clubs in Europe next season, so long as Nice and Girona are operated via a “blind trust”.
