The Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Lateef Fagbemi, SAN, has called on the Senate to approve additional funding for the Ministry to be able to charter aircraft to transport judges for their safety due to the level of insecurity in the country.
The Minister speaking yesterday, during his appearance before Senator Muhammed Munguno (APC, Borno North) led by the Senate Judiciary Committee, said: “To ensure the security and confidence of judges , as well as the location of the trial, the Ministry was required to charter a plane for air transport.
The Minister issued a warning about the delay in announcing the 2023 budget affecting operational efficiency, saying the Ministry only received the announcement on capital expenditure in the 2023 budget on December 1, 2023, less than 30 days before the end of the fiscal year.
