The Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC) premises, has been sealed and taken over by the Rivers State Police Command ahead of the local government elections to be held on October 5, 2024.
This decision was made following the ruling by a Federal High Court, which gave directives on suspension of any electoral activities in the state. The court’s ruling at the same time prohibited security agencies from providing any form of security or participation in the election process on the said date.
