No fewer than 20 people were announced dead as two boats collided in Rivers State on Tuesday night.
News was gathered that the incident happened in Andoni Local Government Area, on Andoni waterways on Tuesday night 9th of January 2024, in the State where two boats loaded with passengers heading to Bonny clashed.
This was confirmed by Andoni Local Government chairman, Erastus Awortu, where his rude shock was expressed in a statement, and consoling the victims’ families in the community.
He stated further that the situation is being monitored to offer further support in order to give the survivors necessary medical attention and recover the remains of the dead from the sea.
