No fewer than eight aspirants have shown interest in running for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) primaries to become governorship candidate for the 2024 governorship election in Ondo State.
However, before any candidate could be chosen, he or she must have overcome the barrier of the PDP primaries which would take place on 15 April, to actualise the bonafide flag bearer for the party and once this is settled the party will be able to concentrate on nullifying the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the November 16 governorship election in Ondo State.
The eight PDP aspirants include:
- Otunba Bamidele Akingboye – Businessman and philanthropist
- Hon. Agboola Ajayi – Former Ondo State Deputy Governor
- Hon. Sheba Abayomi – Former acting national chairman of the Federal Character Commission
- Chief Sola Ebiseni – Former commissioner and chieftain of Afenifere
- John Ola Mafo
- Adeolu Akinwumi
- Bosun Arebuwa
- Kolade Akinjo
However, Eyitayo Jegede, a former Commissioner for Justice and Attorney-General, has withdrawn from the forthcoming Ondo State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) primaries, says he is committed to supporting the party and whoever emerges as the party’s candidate.
