An old woman identified as Nemis Usman, also a fifty year old, had been reportedly killed in Taraba by a driver who hitted her and ran away.
Nemis, who was taking part in ‘Operation Keep Taraba Clean’, was knocked and killed by an unidentified driver in the Jalingo metropolis.
The sad incident happened on Thursday morning in Nobis Junction, along Yola Road near Mile Six.
According to the officials of the Federal Medical Centre, FMC, Jalingo, It was reported that the woman died before she was rushed to the hospital and her body has been deposited to the hospital morgue.
In accordance with the police, investigation to identify the driver responsible for the hit-and-run accident is currently going on.
Correspondence reported that some of the colleagues of the deceased said the woman was hitted by a driver while she was busy carrying out her assigned responsibilities on the highway.
Gambo Kwache, the spokesperson of Taraba State Police Command, also confirmed the incident and the coordinator of Operation Keep Taraba Clean, Iliya Kefas, both said the Police are working round the clock to track down the perpetrator.
