Regarding the earlier threatening strike of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) together with Trade Union Congress of Nigeria (TUC), the duo unions have instructed their affiliate bodies to embark on the nationwide industrial action and which all affiliate bodies have complied.
Some government schools in Osun State had on Tuesday reportedly shut down due to compliance with the directives from their labour leaders.
One of the teachers which name withheld made it known when he said, “We can’t hold back the students when the labour leaders came around and asked us to shut down operations. The students have been released but many teachers are still around the premises.”
Modupe Oyedele, the Osun State NLC acting chairperson, when spoken with, also made it cleared that workers in the state complied fully with the strike directive.
Though, security operatives have been positioned to different strategic places to prevent a breakdown of law and order.
