The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC), National Executive Council had on Wednesday night called off the ongoing strike following the intervention of Nuhu Ribadu, the National Security Adviser.
The meeting between Ribadu and the leaders of the organised labour group which took effect at past 7pm and lasted for almost an hour including different affiliates and state chapters.
This was made known by Tommy Etim, the National Deputy Vice-President of the TUC in Abuja.
He said, “The NEC of the NLC and the TUC have suspended the strike. We did this based on our trust for the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, who gave us his words.”
The purpose of the strike by the organised labour is protesting against the brutalisation of Joe Ajaero, their National President, likewise the government’s failure to fulfill it’s reached agreements on October 2, 2023.
