The Vice President of Nigeria, Kashim Shettima, is about to handover minors to their respective state governors in an elaborate handover ceremony which is going to take place in Abuja in order to transfer the custody of malnourished minors who were detained in respect to #EndBadGovernance protests to their regions.
This is coming barely three months following the children’s taken custody under the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
News report that all necessary paperwork for the release of all the minors has been completed by the Minister of Justice and Attorney General of the Federation, Lateef Fagbemi (SAN). Recall that the minors were detained over #EndBadGovernance protests, including minors charged with treason and facing the death penalty.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, had on Monday morning, ordered the release of the underage children arraigned before the Federal High Court Abuja on Friday, 1, November, following the international and national outrage condemnation.
Mohammed Idris, who is the Minister of Information and National Orientation, had during an emergency briefing at the Aso Rock Villa Abuja, updated on the development to State House correspondents.
“The Vice President is to receive them after they leave court tomorrow (Tuesday) and hand each everyone of them back to their state governors from the north at an ‘elaborate’ ceremony.”
