As part of activities marking Day 3 of the 2026 National Police Day celebration, the Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of the Maritime Police Command, AIG Okunade Ronke Nurat, on Wednesday, 1st April, 2026, carried out a public sensitization exercise at the NIWA Jetty, CMS, Lagos.
The sensitization was conducted in collaboration with the Area Manager of the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA), where boat operators and waterway users were engaged in best practices, regulatory compliance, the importance of having a good relationship with the police and the need for collective responsibility in ensuring safety on inland waterways.
