An agreement is signed between the Union leaders and the federal government officials after an eight-hour meeting last night. Though, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu agreed to pay more than N60,000 as minimum wage.
A Tripartite Committee is formed to address the issue and yet to resume meeting as the committee will be meeting all through next week to deliberate and reach an agreement on the new minimum wage.
Part of the agreement signed in the last night meeting was that the Labour leaders will immediately call a meeting with their critical organs and take a decision on the one-day-old strike.
Labour is expected to call off the strike because the agreement it signed precludes the government from victimising any union official who participated in the enforcement of the strike.
Mohammed Idris, who is the Minister of Information and National Orientation alongside with Nkeiruka Onyejeocha, Minister of State (Labour and Employment) were those signed the agreement on behalf of the Federal Government, while Joe Ajaero, President Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) alongside Festus Osifo, President Trade Union Congress (TUC), for Labour Unions.
