The Labour Party Chairmen from all the 36 states inclusive of Federal Capital Territory, FCT, have compelled with Peter Obi, the Labour Party Presidential candidate for the party’s account be subjected to an external audit.

This is coming amid allegations against Julius Abure who is the party’s national chairman for mismanaging N3.5bn party fund.

The chairmen, who were led by the chairman, Council of State Chairmen of LP, Ceekay Igara of Abia State, had on Tuesday made it known that the they disagree with the financial fraud allegation against Abure following the meeting at the party’s national secretariat.

Mr Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the party demanded an investigation of the party’s finances and records by a reputable audit firm while Abure denied the allegations.

Ceekay Igara made it known that it’s ”Peter Obi’s decision to involve an external auditor in investigating the matter and we believe that the outcome will finally exonerate Abure and also expose the lies being peddled by the suspended treasurer.” Also refuted the claims that the party was considering the suspension of Peter Obi.

He said, “The party has not at any time contemplated the suspension of our leader.

“He remains our leader and will continue to lead the party in our avowed determination to pull this nation out of the strangulation under this present government.

“What you are witnessing now is orchestrated and will fizzle out very soon.”
