LASTMA : Lagos State Government begins junior officers retraining to promote professionalism

The Lagos State Government, had today began an intensive In-house Training Programme for about 309 Junior Officers across Zones, in line with the on-going strategic re-positioning of professionalism for more effective service delivery to the general public, in the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA).

Mr. Bakare-Oki Olelakan, the General Manager of LASTMA, made this known during the Opening Ceremony of the ‘Re-Training Programme’ that the exercise was in line with the ‘Traffic Management and Transportation’ as one of the cardinal programmes of Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu as captured in the administration’s ‘Themes+’ pillars for development of the State.

He emphasized that the re-trainning exercise was primarily meant to create a new image for the Agency that would guarantee a refined and robust Traffic Management System (T.M.S) in the State, as well as reducing the traffic congestions across the State, confirming the exercise be ran for four consecutive days, starting today Monday 29th of January to end on Thursday 1st of February 2024, which the first batch of 81 Junior Officers (Males & Females).

“We map out new re-training modules to aid effective execution of duties as well as enlighten our Officers on new innovative ways to optimize their operations to meet up with International standard and best practices in traffic management.”

Course contents for the retraining exercise include: Leadership Qualities, Operational Guidelines, Empathy and Emotionally Management, Enforcement without Agression, Traffic Incidents Management and Safety, Attitudinal Change in Traffic Management, Human Right Law Standards, Civil Service Rules and Regulations, Discipline, Ethics and Standard in Traffic Management, Enhanced Capacity, Service Efficiency and Reliability and Religious Discretion in Traffic Management.

Mr. Akinpelu Ayuba, the Lastma Director of Human Capacity, Development and Specialized Training, commend the Government for approving the re-training programme for the Agency.
