The Senate has begun selecting the new resident electoral commissioner of the Independent National Electoral Commission.
The newly appointed RECs are: Etekamba Umoren (Akwa Ibom), Isah Shaka Ehimeakne (Edo), Oluwatoyin Babalola (Ekiti), Abubakar Ahmed Ma’aji (Gombe), Shehu Wahab (Kwara), Prof. Mohammed Yelwa (Niger).
The others are Anugbum Onuoha (Rivers), Isma’ila Kaura Moyi (Zamfara), Bunmi Omoseyindemi (Lagos) and Aminu Kasimu Idris (Nasarawa).
President Bola Tinubu has written to the Senate requesting the selection and confirmation of 10 new Resident Electoral Commissioners for a five-year term. The President’s request was contained in a letter read by Senate President Godswill Akpabio on Tuesday.
REC was appointed last week to serve on the Independent National Electoral Commission.
