By Busari Kabirat

The High Court of Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, has granted Godwin Emefiele, who was the Ex-governor of Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, a N300 million bail after his arrest on a four-count charge over the print of new Naira notes without following the due process.

Other bail conditions given was that he should get two sureties which each of them must have titled property within the Maitama area of the FCT.

He was also given directives to deposit his travel documents with the court and should not travel outside the country without the court’s permission by Justice Anenih.

The judge accepted conditions attached to a similar bail earlier granted Emefiele by Justice Hamza Muazu (another judge of the FCT High Court), before whom he is being tried on another criminal case.

If Emefiele was able to produce the certified true copies (CTCs) of the documents he submitted in fulfillment of the bail earlier granted by Justice Muazu, it will suffice, the judge declared.

His trial commencement adjourned till May 28, 2024.
