Imo guber: LP, PDP governorship candidates withdraw at INEC stakeholders meeting

In the Imo State governorship election, candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP and Labor Party, LP), Senator Samuel Anyanwu and Athan Achonu, staged a walkout during the parties meeting organized by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The stakeholders meeting was held on Wednesday in Owerri.

The candidates have expressed their concerns to INEC, demanding the redeployment of the state’s Resident Electoral Officer (REC), Professor Sylva Agu.

Tuesday’s meeting was part of INEC’s engagement with governorship candidates, security agencies, media, civil society organizations and other stakeholders ahead of the election. November 11.

INEC Chairman Mahmood Yakubu was represented by the National Commissioner representing the South East, Kenneth Ukeagu. After Ukeagu ordered journalists to turn off their cameras and equipment and leave the room, the deputy candidate of the LP, Mr. Tony Nwulu, and of the PDP, Jones Onyereri, who represented their flag bearers , and other opposition political leaders from all sides vehemently opposed this directive.
