House committee on Army pay a condolence visit to Nigerian Army

Thus, in a heavy hearted remark, the Chairman House of Representatives Committee on Army, Honourable Aminu Balele has lauded Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja’s selfless service to the nation, acknowledging his tireless and selfless efforts in combating security challenges in the country and promoting national security.

Hon Balele today led members of the committee to extend their heartfelt condolences to the Nigerian Army (NA) following the passing of Lieutenant General Taoreed Abiodun Lagbaja Chief of Army Staff, whose demise occurred on Tuesday, 5 November 2024 after a brief illness.

Moreso, the Committee Chairman recognized the late COAS’ resolute commitment to defending Nigeria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, assuring support and the continuity of his legacies. The committee encouraged the Acting COAS to continue striving for excellence, expressing confidence in his ability to lead the NA to greater heights Nigeria desired for.

However, the lawmakers pledged support to the family of the late COAS and the NA under the leadership of Acting COAS, Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, as it continues to strive to restore peace and security in troubled parts of the country.

Furthermore, the Acting COAS, Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, described the late COAS as a rare gem who dedicated his life to serving Nigeria and humanity. 

Also, the acting COAS highlighted the modest achievements of the late Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja, noting that the NA will eternally celebrate his legacies.

In the same vein, the committee extended they condolence visit to the wife of formal Chief Army Staff Mrs,Mariya Abiodun Lagbaja’s in his resident at Niger Barack where the Chairman of the committee noted that Lagbaja left a good legacies for the Nigeria Army to build on and he know that the new Chief of Army Staff will put in new ideas in dealing with current situation of insecurity be failing us as a nation.
