The Gombe state university branch of the Academic Staff Union of Universities, (ASUU), together with Gombe State Government have both reached an agreement to put a stop to it’s several weeks of strike action over demands presented by the union.
It should be recall that the Gombe state university ASUU declared an indefinite strike on September 11, 2024, bringing all academic activities to a halt.
Several meetings held with the state government had resulted to the approval of total sum of N947 million on Thursday at the executive council meeting presided over by Governor Inuwa Yahaya, aimed at offsetting staff promotions and earned academic allowances, EAA.
Due to the new development to resolving the issue, academic activities are set to resume in few days as all machinery for the reopening of the university are already set in motion.
The Deputy Governor, Manassah Jatau, while speaking on behalf of the Governor, expressed confidence that the truce reached through signing of documents by both parties would foster greater synergy for an uninterrupted teaching and learning in the state-owned university.
