Former RB Leipzig star Agyemang Diawusie has passed away at the age of 25.
The former German U19 player suddenly passed away, German media outlet BR24 reported that Diawusie’s death was due to “natural causes”.
Diawusie have broken through the ranks of Bundesliga giants RB Leipzig.
This season he played for German third-tier club Jahn Regensburg, who released an emotional statement on Tuesday announcing the striker’s death.
The statement read: “This Tuesday, SSV Jahn received the terrible news that Jahn’s expert Agyemang Diawusie passed away at the age of 25.
“The club is shocked and deeply saddened by this tragic event. “The Jahn family mourns with the bereaved family and their thoughts are with Agyemang’s family, relatives, close friends and companions.
“Due to the terrible circumstances and out of respect for his family, we ask that their privacy be respected.”
Diawusie was born in Berlin to Ghanaian parents and represented the European country at youth level.
Before his tragic death, he played for RB Leipzig, Dynamo Dresden, SpVgg Bayreuth and Jahn Regensburg. His last appearance for the latter club came on 4 November in a Bundesliga 3 match against 1860 Munich.
