FG to probe fresh accusation of Bobrisky over EFCC official

The Federal Government of Nigeria had on Wednesday given directives to investigate comprehensively into the allegations of bribery and corruption within the Nigerian Correctional Service NCoS.

This was made known in a statement issued in Abuja by Hon. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, the Minister of Interior, and was signed by Babatunde Alao, his Special Assistant on Media.

Martins Otse, a Nigerian social activist, better known as VeryDarkMan had in a post on Tuesday evening on Facebook live released an audio which he claimed to be that of Idris Okuneye better known as Bobrisky, engaging in a discussion with another person about how his godfather made sure of not sleeping in the Custodial Centre, after being sentenced to six months imprisonment for abusing the Naira currency, likewise the audio clip revealing as top officials of Nigeria’s anti-graft agency, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission EFCC demanded a bribe of N15m from him to drop money laundering charges against him.

Babatunde Alao, had in the statement made known that the minister incontrovertible condemned the alleged behaviour, stressing that any form of indiscipline, unprofessionalism, and corruption will be met with zero tolerance and severe consequences within the paramilitary services under the Ministry’s reach

Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo said, “The Ministry will not tolerate any compromise on its core values of integrity, transparency, and accountability. We will leave no stone unturned in rooting out corruption and ensuring that those found culpable will face the full wrath of the law.”

“The Minister has called for a special investigative team headed by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, Dr. Magdalene Ajani, to probe these allegations and submit a comprehensive report.

“The Minister reassures the public that the investigation will be rigorous, transparent, and impartial, and that appropriate disciplinary actions will be taken against any personnel found guilty.”
