A Nigerian X user, with the name @letter_to_jack, had on Wednesday, September 4, took to his X social media platform, demanding justice with “#JusticeForChristiannah” for Idowu Christianah, a young lady who was abducted and killed by one Adeleye Ayomide, an Olabisi Onabanjo University student with.
Idowu Christianah got missing on 19, August 2024, after which her parents were called by her abductors using her own WhatsApp account.
The abductors sent her captivity pictures through the ‘view once’ feature and requested the ransom of ₦1.5 million, which her parents was able to raise the sum of ₦350,000 only which they transferred to a betting account as directed by the abductors.
Following the receiving of the money from her parents, the abductors demanded a copy of the sender’s bank statement which the abductee’s family complied on 23, August, but the abductors stopped communicating with the family. In the meantime, some ransom funds were transferred into Christianah’s GTB account and later withdrawn into a Wema Bank account linked to the main suspect, Adeleye Ayomide, a 200-level student at Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU).
Investigation begins by tracking the linked bank accounts on August 26, on 29, August, it was confirmed that the BVN linked to the betting account belonged to Adeleye Ayomide and he had already withdrawn ₦100,000 before the betting company locked the account.
It was also discovered that Ayomide and Christianah had a personal connection with evidence from their Instagram interactions.
Authorities further tracked Ayomide’s mobile device to his parent’s house in Ikorodu, after which the military personnel from the 174 Battalion were deployed to make the arrest. Upon searching his phone, police found incriminating evidence, including Christianah’s phone and bank records linking Ayomide to the crime. Email conversations between Ayomide and the family were also discovered.
Ayomide confessed killing Christianah and burying her in his family home on 3, September 2024.
However, there has been a death incident involving Ayomide’s ex-girlfriend in 2018 and his biological sister in 2020 under similar circumstances which is said to might have been related to Ayomide.
