Governor Abiodun Oyebanji of Ekiti State, has inaugurated a 13-member committee whose duty is to negotiate on behalf of the Ekiti state government with the organised labour on the implementation of minimum wage payment commencement within the state.
This was made known by Yinka Oyebode, the Special Adviser, Media, to the Ekiti State Governor in a statement in Ado Ekiti, noting that the decision made in setting up the committee was due to the signing of the minimum wage law in accordance with President Asiwaju Bola Tinubu dated July 30, 2024, which the negotiating committee comprises of government officials and the State’s leadership of the organised labour while the first meeting of the committee will be holding on Wednesday, September 4, 2024.
The negotiating committee which are officials from the government include Dr Folakemi Olomojobi, Head of Service (as chairperson); Akintunde Oyebode, Commissioner for Finance; K. Faromiluyi, Special Advisor on Labour Matter; Mrs Titilayo Olayinka, Accountant General.
Members from the organised labour are Olufemi Ajoloko, Chairman, Joint Negotiation Council; Olatunde Kolapo, Chairman, Nigeria Labour Congress; and Sola Adigun, Chairman, Trade Union Congress.
While other members include Bamise Sunday Julius, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Justice; Oluwadare Jolumo, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Finance; and Mrs Janet Ajibola, Permanent Secretary, Office of Establishment and Service Matters, Yetunde Emmanuel, Secretary, Joint Negotiation Council; Dr Israel Taiwo, Secretary, Nigeria Labour Council; and Yemi Peters, Secretary, Trade Union Congress.
