Bill to establish Federal University of Science, Technology Okorokorisei, Bayelsa passes second reading
This was revealed to the news men immediately after the plenary by the sponsor of the motion Senator Benson Friday (PDP-Bayelsa) that the establishment of the University of Science and Technology Okorokorisei in Bayless state is for teaching and research in science and technology
Thus, Senator Benson also alluded to the fact that the university will also serve as an institution of learning where people from all parts of the country could come and learn
and that this university was for the training of young men and women and older Nigerians in science and technology, adding that education was a driver of modern economy.
He said that, the university would also teach courses that are particularly relevant to each immediate area, especially marine engineering, petroleum, and other fields of research also produce the university will graduates in diverse fields of engineering, medical science, and information technology among others.
Also, Benson said as I’m talking to you 90% of the militancy in the country is in southern Ijaw
that if you take away militancy in southern Nigeria then the militancy issue, restiveness and all of that will come to the barest minimum and 60 percent of those who are called militants that became involved with those who never went to school and how do we bring them to school.
