The University of Abuja (Uniabuja), coupled with British School of Outdoor Education (BSOE), have made it known that they will collaborate to train five million Nigerian students on digital skills.

Ambassador, John Aikeremiokha, who is the programme and Nigerian students’ coordinator, made this known yesterday to newsmen in Abuja that, we must make our country great by equipping our youths with the necessary tools and skills to thrive in the world of technology.

The demand for skilled professionals in the digital world had never been higher but with the recent launch of the federal government’s block chain technology and digital economy initiatives, it seems it will be encouraging.

Recall that in a recent survey, over 80 per cent of recruiters cited proficiency in digital technologies as a top requirement for candidates.

Amb. John said, “Yet, many of our students, especially those from underserved communities, lack access to quality training opportunities that can unlock their full potential. That’s why we are proud to announce a groundbreaking initiative aimed at providing digital skills training to five million Nigerian students.
“The ability to demonstrate IT skills on one’s resume is essential for getting noticed by employers and securing interviews.”

He further stated that participating in the training programme, students would not only gain valuable skills, but also enhance their employability and stand out in a crowded job market and also announced the launch of the Earn As You Learn initiative which will allow students to gain practical experience and earn income while continuing their education.
