Barely three years since its establishment, the Lekki Free Trade Zone Customs Command has demonstrated inclusivity in giving back to society, following the key agenda of the Comptroller General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi. The command commissioned three renovated classroom blocks at Roman Catholic Mission Primary School in the Ibeju Lekki area of Lagos State.
The Comptroller General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, who was ably represented by the Deputy Comptroller General of Customs in charge of Excise, Free Trade Zones, Industrial and Incentives, B.U. Nwafor, highlighted the Nigeria Customs Service’s commitment to education and community development, emphasizing that education is the bedrock of personal growth and national transformation.
In his opening remarks, the Area Controller of the Command, Olanrewaju Abdulwahab Olumoh, expressed profound gratitude to the Comptroller General of Customs, community leaders, and stakeholders who have been supportive in various ways since his assumption of duty.
Pupils and teachers could not hide their excitement, describing the project as a landmark achievement. They noted it goes beyond revenue generation, touching many lives and standing as a testament to the quality leadership of the Nigeria Customs Service.
The high point of the event was the official unveiling of the three blocks of classrooms, providing pupils with a conducive environment to explore their hidden potential.
In a related development, the Lekki Free Trade Zone Customs Command engaged stakeholders and captains of industry from various sectors who have contributed immensely to the success recorded by the command. Speaking at the event in Lagos, the Area Controller, Olanrewaju Abdulwahab Olumoh, extolled the efforts of the command’s partners at all levels.
The event featured several stakeholders, including NAGAFF delegates, freight forwarders, the Dangote Group and others.
