A Lagos based stepfather named Aramide Tito, was on Monday by the Chief Magistrates’ Court of Badagry docked for allegedly assaulting and starving his 11-year-old stepson.
The defendant was charged with attempted murder, indecent deal and assault.
According to ASP Clément Okuoimose, who is the prosecutor, said in the court of law that the defendant committed the offences on August 17, around 11.00.p.m, at Oke Ogbe Area, Atura, Badagry, Lagos State, while the defendant pleaded not guilty to all the charges.
The prosecutor said the defendant starved his stepson and also beat him up unlawfully for three consecutive days.
Explaining further, he said “The defendant poured hot water on him while he was sleeping.
“He attempted to murder the boy while he was sleeping.
He also made it known that the ofence contravened the provisions of Sections 135, 245 and 230 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos state, 2015.”
In accordance with the Chief Magistrate, Mr A J Aina, granted the defendant bail with the sum of N100,000 and two sureties, stating that each of the surety must be gainfully employed.
The case is adjourned till 25, September, for another hearing.
