Christmas Vacation: Nigerian Federal High Court Judges begin Vacation Dec 16

The Nigerian Federal High Court judges are to proceed on Christmas Vacation for the year 2024 as from Monday, December 16.

This is in accordance with a signed circular by Hon. Justice John Terhemba Tsoho, the Chief Judge of the Court, noting that the Judges are to vacate on December 16 and get back to work on Monday January 6, 2025, which the normal court sitting would commence on Tuesday, the 7th of January, 2025, in all judicial divisions of the court nationwide.

This is Pursuant to the provisions of Order 46, Rule 4 (C) of the Federal High Court (Civil Procedure) Rules, 2019 (as amended).

While vacation is ongoing, the three core judicial divisions which are Port-Harcourt, Lagos and Abuja will usually remain functional and open to the litigating public all through the vacation period.

Only matters that has to do with enforcement of fundamental rights, arrest or release of vessels and matters that concern dire national interest shall be entertained by the vacation Judges.

Justices Emeka Nwite and M. S. Liman will serve as vacation Judges in the Abuja division while Justices Akintayo Aluko and Isaac Dipeolu, will be on standby in Lagos division and Hon. Justices P. M. Ayua together with A. T. Mohammed in the Port-Harcourt judicial division as vacation Judges.

The Chief Judge in advance wished his fellow Judges a wonderful Christmas and new year holiday.
