BREAKING: Court reserves decision on Kano gov’s appeal

By Oluwadara Akingbohungbe

The Court of Appeal in Abuja has reserved its judgment on the appeal of Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf challenging his dismissal by the Governorship Election Petition Tribunal.

On September 20, the tribunal annulled Yusuf’s election and declared his 165,663 votes invalid.

The tribunal ruled that the ballot papers were not signed and stamped by the Independent National Electoral Commission. As a result, he declared former All Progressives Congress parliamentary candidate Nasiru Gawuna as the winner of the gubernatorial election.

Unsatisfied with the decision, Yusuf appealed the tribunal’s decision and urged the court to overturn its decision.
