The Nigeria Police Force, Benue state, has been able to screened 19,258 out of 25,346 applicants that was shortlisted.
ASP Dominic Iornumbe, the leader of the police recruitment team to the State, disclosed this on Friday, during a visit to Governor Hyacinth Alia at the Government House, Makurdi, where he stated that the team which arrived in Benue on 8, January, 2024, had all concluded their registration procedures and screened applicant names had been uploaded .
He further expressed the readiness of the police and the Police Service Commission to recruit more people in the state if the facilities at the police training school domiciled in the state are improved upon.
He urged the governor on the improvement of the facilities at the training college in Annune to increase the chances of more Benue youths who have applied for the exercise to be trained.
ASP Alia, made known the high level of unemployment of the youths in the state while addressing the police recruitment team, said that the police recruitment exercise is an opportunity to take many of the idle youths in the state off the street.
He lauded the Federal Government for establishing and making the Police Training School, Wanune, Tarka Local Government Area, as a training centre for Benue and many other neighbouring states.
