The Chairman, Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), Mr Christopher Maikalangu, is angry with Abuja residents over their nonchalant attitude of dumping refuse into drainage.
Maikalangu, had on Wednesday, while speaking with newsmen, following some communities’ project inspection within the area council said, they would begin enforcement of punitive sanctions against defaulters and anyone caught in the act would also a fine to serve as warning for the others.
He said, “I can’t see reasons why people bring trash from their houses to dump into the flood drains.
“This is wrong, and it is the cause of water overflowing onto the roads.
“These facilities are meant for people, and for proper flow of water, but people will rather drop their waste into the drains
”We have been warning the people against it, and soon we will start imposing fines.”
Urging contractors working on the projects to quickly remove the dirts from the drains to avoid unusual flood.
