Olaf Scholz, the German Chancellor yesterday explained that up to 14,000 Nigerians living in Germany are at risk of deportation.
Scholz said this during a meeting with President Bola Tinubu in Abuja on Tuesday where he attributed this to the increase in the number of Nigerian asylum seekers, many of whom do not have national identity cards.
The German chancellor pointed out that about 12,500 Nigerians are in a state of leniency in Germany due to the Nigerian government’s reluctance to accept people who do not have the necessary identification documents.
