Thus, Selnate Minority Leader and Senator representing Benue South Senatorial District, Abba Moro, has called on political groups and stakeholders in the zone to unite across party lines to demand greater development and representation for the people.
And Moro made the call on Friday, September 18, 2026, when leaders and members of the NDC Integrity Group, Zone C, paid him a courtesy visit and announced their support for his political candidature.

Also, Senator Moro acknowledged the endorsement of President Bola Tinubu by the visiting group, arguing that political decisions should be assessed against realities on the ground rather than promises made by political aspirants.
He specifically cited the ongoing Abuja-Keffi-Makurdi road project, which he said passes through Benue South, as one of the Federal Government projects with direct relevance to the people of the district the minority leader alludedto fact that the road has changed the travel pattern between Benue and Abuja, with more people now passing through Makurdi instead of the Oweto axis because of the condition of the Oweto-Ututu road
Moreso, senator Moro stated some strong criticism of the Benue State Government over what he described as neglect of Benue South, alleging that the administration of Governor Hyacinth Alia had failed to provide sufficient development and respond adequately to security challenges in the area.
The senator accused the governor of failing to commission significant projects in the zone despite spending more than three years in office, and questioned claims of improved security in parts of Benue South.
He also alleged that the state government had failed to adequately respond to attacks on communities in the zone, including Agatu, and criticized what he described as unequal treatment of affected communities.
Minority leader criticisms reflect his longstanding public disagreement with the Benue State Government over development and security in Benue South. In March 2026, the All Middle Belt Youth Forum also publicly backed his calls for more balanced development in the state, while acknowledging that some viewed his position as part of the political contest ahead of the 2027 elections.
