The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a Chinese national, Bai Quang, over allegations of sexual assault, unwanted sexual advances and threats against a Nigerian employee.
Police sources said the case was transferred at about 10pm on August 19, 2026, from the Ilemba Hausa Police Station, Lagos, and assigned to the Diplomatic/Foreign Nationals D23 Section of the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Panti for discreet investigation.
According to the sources, the suspect allegedly made repeated sexual advances towards his employee, identified as Charles Nwafor, which were reportedly rebuffed outrightly.
It was alleged that the suspect subsequently sexually assaulted Nwafor by pulling down his trousers and touching his private parts, among other alleged inappropriate acts.
Sources further alleged that the complainant was later lured to a hotel under the guise of a business transaction, but the suspect allegedly attempted to force him into unwanted sexual activity.
The complainant was said to have resisted the alleged advances, following which the suspect allegedly resorted to threats and subsequently terminated his employment after he refused to yield to the demands.
Following the complaint, the suspect was arrested and is currently in police custody while detectives investigate the allegations.
Police sources said the Chinese Embassy is being informed of the arrest and detention of the foreign national in accordance with established procedures.
Investigation is said to be ongoing and the suspect is expected to be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.
The case highlights ongoing efforts by the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Panti, under the command and control of Commissioner of Police, CP Fatai Tijani, ably assisted by the Deputy Commissioner in charge of the Department, DCP Dayo Akinbisehin, to proactively investigate all allegations capable of threatening public order and deploy discreet, intelligence-led policing in resolving sensitive criminal and other disputes across Lagos State.
