Day (4) National Police Day 2026: Lagos State Police Command holds security stakeholders’ meeting, presents ₦53.3M cheques to families of fallen heroes

As part of activities marking the 2026 National Police Day, the Lagos State Police Command today held a Security Stakeholder Meeting alongside the presentation of cheques to families of officers who paid the supreme price in the line of duty.

The event, which brought together key stakeholders, including the PCRC, Lagos State Command, Eminent Persons Forum, Community Leaders, Religious Leaders, and members of the National Youth Council of Nigeria, is aimed at building trust through community partnership.

While addressing the gathering, the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Tijani Olaiwola Fatai, psc, mnips, appreciated the stakeholders for their continued partnership and support in crime prevention and control. He emphasised the importance of synergy in tackling criminality, prompt response to distress calls, and maintaining peace and order within the State.

The Commissioner further highlighted pressing security concerns such as cultism and electoral violence, assuring that the Command will continue to adopt intelligence-led policing and leverage technology to enhance operational effectiveness.

In a solemn moment during the event, a total sum of ₦53,387,209.48 (Fifty-Three Million, Three Hundred and Eighty-Seven Thousand, Two Hundred and Nine Naira, Forty-Eight Kobo) was presented to the families of the fallen heroes, as benefits under the Inspector-General of Police Family Welfare Scheme. The gesture underscores the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to the welfare of the families of officers who lost their lives in active service.

The beneficiaries expressed deep appreciation to the Inspector-General of Police and the Lagos State Police Command for the support, noting that the assistance will significantly alleviate the challenges faced by the families left behind. The Commissioner of Police reaffirmed that the sacrifices of fallen officers will never be forgotten and assured that the Force will continue to stand firmly with their families.
