
This briefing aims to provide updates on the security landscape in Kano State, Led by the Commissioner of Police Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, our sustained crime-fighting efforts, and the successes achieved by the Command in crime prevention, management and control within the period under review.
In compliance with the directives of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun on adopting community-centered proactive crime prevention strategies ahead of the fourth and festive quarter of the year, the Kano State Police Command has intensified its strategic initiatives, particularly through Operation Kukan Kura. This Operation has been instrumental in curbing all forms of criminal activities and fostering a safer environment for all, in the State.
Operation Kukan Kura is widely comprehensive security initiative designed to tackle all forms of crimes and criminalities in Kano State, with active participation of members of the public. This Operation has yielded remarkable results in disrupting criminal networks and preventing potential threats. By engaging with the community, leveraging intelligence and use of technology, the Command has been able to stay ahead of criminal elements and respond effectively to emerging security challenges.
No doubt, with massive reduction in crimes, the Command has achieved significant breakthroughs within one month, including the arrest of suspects for various felonious offenses and the recovery of dangerous weapons and large quantities of illicit drugs. Notably, we recently recovered Tramadol and Pregabalin Tablets worth N82,725,000.00 in Rimin Auzinawa Quarters, Kano, which will be handed over to the NDLEA for further investigation and prosecution.
In total, 105 suspects were arrested in 30 major cases, including armed robbery, illicit drug dealings, theft of motor vehicles and motorcycles, and thuggery. Exhibits recovered include firearms, motor vehicles, motorcycles, other dangerous weapons, illicit drugs, and stolen properties.

- 7 live ammunition and 5 empty shells of live ammunition
- 7 Motor Vehicles
- 2 Tricycle
- 13 Motorcycles
- 3 Cows
- 38 Swords, 42 Cutlasses, 57 Knives, 31 Other Sharp Irons
- 603 packets of Tramadol Tablets (60,300 pieces, valued at N60,300,000.00)
- 6 cartons of Pregabalin Capsules (44,850 pieces, valued at N22,425,000.00)
- 523 parcels of dried leaves suspected to be Cannabis Sativa
- Other illicit drugs and stolen properties
- 5 POS Machine, etc.
