Victor Osimhen and Asisat Oshoala are set to complete a unique Nigerian double as they are crowned both the men’s and women’s CAF Footballer of the Year awards.
Monday night’s lavish Ballon d’Or ceremony in Paris gave much credence to this claim after Osimhen was ranked the eighth best player in the world, while Oshoala, the only African most nominated in the women’s version, ranked 20th.
Osimhen earned the title of world top scorer thanks to an exceptional campaign with Napoli last season, when he became the first African player to be crowned top scorer in Serie A and his goals took the club became champion after more than three decades of waiting.
