Training and capacity building for improved professionalism in investigative policing

Kano State Police Command has commenced a special capacity-building training programmes for officers and men of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) for enhanced service delivery in areas of investigation and prosecution. This is in line with the directives of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun on the need to equip the personnel of the Force with the right specialized skills and knowledge to promote a more efficient, well-trained, and highly motivated workforce.

The training featured insightful presentations on critical topics, including: “Eliminating Corruption in the NPF” delivered by Assistant Commissioner of Police CID, ACP Muhammad Wada Jarma; “Extortion and Other Unethical Conduct” by the Officer in charge of X-Squad, ACP Mohammed B. Suleiman; and “Cyber-security Awareness” by Mr. Jessy John from Cyber-Safe Youth Initiative Organization. These presentations underscore the Command’s commitment to upholding the highest standards of professionalism and integrity especially in the areas of investigations and prosecution.

The Commissioner of Police, Kano State Command, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, PhD, in his opening remark while thanking the resource persons, enjoined the participants to seize the opportunity to learn new arts in investigation and refresh their memories, as well. He was later, presented with an award for exemplary efforts and resilience in promoting digital security by the Cyber-safe Youth Initiative, which he dedicated to all the good officers and men of the Command. In his words, he said ‘’This award will motivate the Command’s efforts to staying at the forefront in confronting emerging security challenges and renewed commitment to protecting citizens in the digital age’’. He also promised that the capacity-building exercise will be continuously conducted periodically and across all departments, to meet the demand of policing our dynamic society.

Through this initiative, the Kano State Police Command aims to enhance the capacity of its personnel to deliver effective and efficient service, ultimately contributing to a safer and more secure environment for all.
