CONMMEP Elects New Executive: Udo Onyeka merges President

The Congress of Nigerian Maritime Media Practitioners (CONMMEP) has elected a new executive team to steer the affairs of the organization. Comrade Udo Onyeka, Publisher of News Business, emerged as the new President, winning a keenly contested election.

Udo Onyeka, who previously served as Vice President, takes over from Alhaji Tunde Umar-Daniah, who led the organization for three years. The new executive team includes:

  • Vice President: Mr. Femi Okonofua
  • General Secretary: Mr. Bolaji Israel
  • Assistant Secretary: LOD Onyeji
  • Treasurer: Ms. Adeola Oluwole
  • Financial Secretary: Mr. Isaac Ajiboye
  • Public Relations Officer (PRO): Mcanthony Onuoha
  • Welfare Officer: Ms. Ilebani Titilayo
  • Provost: Izuchukwu Ahuchaogu

In his acceptance speech, Udo Onyeka pledged to work with every member to move CONMMEP to greater heights. He emphasized the importance of productivity, professionalism, and transparency, assuring members that his administration would prioritize accountability and welfare.

The outgoing President, Alhaji Tunde Umar-Daniah, commended members for their peaceful conduct during the election and urged the new executive to sustain the unity and harmony within the organization.

Udo Onyeka contested against Dili Nicholas Utomi for the presidency, while Ms. Ann Ejuka lost to Mr. Femi Okonofua in the vice-presidential contest. Mcanthony Onuoha was returned unopposed as PRO, and Alfred Omenihu stepped down for Bolaji Israel, who emerged as General Secretary.

The election was marked by its peaceful and orderly conduct, reflecting the organization’s commitment to democratic principles and unity.
